Take a Grow!

Matias Gatti

A system of modular hydroponic farms that can be easily transported and combined to build larger structures. Modules can be rented out by local entrepreneurs to grow and sell produce. Each module is equipped with a set of sensors that automatically keeps track of crop growth — citizens can check what produce are available at which modules, and place orders through their smartphones.

FOR (A): The proposal can educate urban residents about how their food is produced
FOR (B): I like how the authors propose to do agriculture in Ginza of all places
FOR (C): It's fun to imagine people shopping for luxury goods one minute, and harvesting vegetables the next minute
FOR (D): I think the proposal can create new jobs in cities
FOR (E): This seems like an idea that can be deployed in a wide variety of places, not just Sony Park
AGAINST (A): Growing produce in Ginza sounds rather inefficient; why here?
AGAINST (B): I feel this idea is too narrowly focused on the issue of food productivity
AGAINST (C): I have difficulty seeing how this idea contributes to realizing "future cities created by everyone"
